Well I finally decided to cash in my 14 points for a quality blacktail rut tag. I've taken the entire hunt off work and plan to give it my best to cash in on another Booner blacktail.
I've never had the chance to hunt blacktail during peak rut like this so it's definitely going to be interesting. I've spent a lot of time hunting the high country with my fair share of success but there's going to be a bit of learning curve to figuring out where the deer are going to be this time of year. It looks like the hunt is going to start out relatively warm (8000 foot snow level) and very wet. With very little snow so far in the high country, it will be interesting to see if the deer are still hanging out up high or if they've started to push down yet.
I thought I'd start a thread to keep you all updated on how the hunt is going. I'll try to update as much as I can throughout the hunt but the best way to follow is for those of you on Instagram to follow me @lonegoatmedia I plan to keep the hunt updated with Instastories throughout the hunt.
Here's some photos from previous years success. Keep checking back here for the next couple weeks for updates on the hunt.
